Introduction // Urban Design Build Studio Ozark

Welcome!

This semester, I am enrolled in our school’s first Urban Design Build Studio: Ozark. Titled Carb Complex: The Big Picture, this studio slots into greater efforts to develop our commitment to forestry and timber. Enabled by grant funding, we are tasked this semester with visualizing a future for the Whipple Family Forestry Education Center at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, AR. Because we are the first in a multi-year sequence of studios, we are determining “The Big Picture” for the project, exploring options relating to siting, programming, and concept. In order to realize our proposals however, we will bounce between scales, working to visualize a larger scale long term proposal through full scale prototypes and built work. I am excited to work with our neighboring disciplines (architecture and interior design) this semester and develop new techniques in representation and design development!
